Conference Management in Access database? Need recommendation

I've been asked to look into the possibility of using Access to manage a
convention of roughly 1500 people. I'd like to know if there areany
shareware packages, or commercial packages, to use Microsoft Office apps
to do this.

The conference consists of perhaps 200 events over three days. Most of
these events are small conferences, perhaps an hour long, where up to
four or five speakers will participate. We would like to ensure that no
speaker is double-booked for the same time slot-- in fact, we'd like to
be able to provide each guest with a personal schedule, so they know
where to go, and when.

For each of these events, we'd also like to track any resources
required-- microphones, AV projectors, and the like. And if there is a
provision for common areas like a dealers' room, that'd be a big plus.

Of course, we'd like to be able to spit the data to a Word file for
typesetting into attractive program booklets.
