Configurating MS Word 2000 SR-1

I recently upgraded to IE 8 and now for many sites, I keep getting a
popup box asking me to wait while Windows configures Microsoft Word 2000
SR-1.

Then, a second box pops up indicating the following: " The feature you
are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not
available." "Insert the 'Microsoft Word 2000 SR-1 disk and click OK."

For my computer, which I purchased from DELL in 2001 and running XP, MS
Word 2000 was factory loaded and I was not provided any CD-ROM with the
software on it. Therefore, I have no disk to use in the application or
when trying to update MS Word 2000.

I have contacted DELL to see about getting the CD-ROM and they no longer
have that disk available, for MS Word 2000.

This problem was not serious all of the time I was running IE 7 and has
know intensified after I upgraded IE to IE 8. ( Also, I do not wish to
restore my system to go back to IE 7.)

What is my answer in the situation that I have described above to either
get the box to quit popping up to configure MS Word 2000 OR in fact get
a MS Word 2000 CD-ROM that could be used to update my program and get MS
Word 2000 configured so that I quit having this problem.

I suspect that unless you can borrow an Office 2000 disc to copy you are not
going to resolve this problem.

I know that the MS Works Office Suite 2001 has Word 2000 on it--you might
search for it on Amazon. I got this for 15 bucks a few years back--the
cheapest way to get Word (well, legally, that is). This version of Word is
much the same as that in Office, except for stuff like mail merge--so it
very well might get you what you need. Other than that, old copies of Office
2000 are available on ebay/amazon for not much more than 15, so you can look
there. Keeping in mind that you can get Office 2007 Home and Student for 80
on amazon, I sure wouldn't pay much more than 15 just to get Word 2000.

The version of Word 2000 in the old Works suite is *identical* to the
version of Word in Office 2000, however you will have as much trouible
getting an old copy of the Works suite as an old copy of Office 2000. The
simplest solution to the OPs problem is to borrow an Office 2000 disc and
copy it.

Your suggestions did in fact work. I found a copy of MS Office 2001 ( that
includes MS Word 2000 SR-1 ) on Ebay for $12.99, shipping included. This
SHOULD solve my problem and I'm very grateful to you guys for your
suggestions.
