Configuration files - message resent

Hi everyone,

A short time ago, I sent the following message. But I made a mistake in
my newsgroup setting and now I seem to have deleted my original message
and any reply that you nice people may have sent. So I will restate the
question, please.

I am wondering what the file is for Visio Professional 2003 that
contains information on the configuration. In other words, what is the
file that stores the information on what toolbars open when you start
Visio, or what menus there on the toolbars.

Thanks again.

Your challenge is that the menu's may/are dynamic based upon the
drawing/template that is opened by the users. This is because add-ins and
documents with custom code can change the menuing on the fly. If a user adds
an add-in external to what process you may be using, it can also change the
user interface.

Hi,

Thank you for your responses.

Maybe what I am looking for, therefore, is the .vsu file.

Here's the situation: I have two profiles set on my computer, and I run
Visio on both of them. On one profile, I have an elaborate set of
toolbars and menus and things like that. I would like to get this same
configuration on my other profile, without having to painstakingly, and
probably incorrectly, trying to duplicate everything by hand.

So if I just take the customxx.vsu file and copy it into my other
profile, then that might solve the problem, right?

Thank you.

Hello Philippe,

The standard location is :

Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\Application
Data\Microsoft\Visio

Vista - C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Visio

and of course is you haven't customized your UI yet, it won't exist at all.

Best regards

John
