Configuration

Craig

I have installed MS Project 2007 on a laptop. Ever since installation I am
constantly getting a dialog box message that says something to the effect of
"Windows is configuring Project". It then proceeds to do it's thing and then
wants to re-boot the machine. I have let this process complete several
times. OK, it's time to be configured and stop this. This have gone on for
a few weeks now. Any suggestions?

Hi Craig,

I've taken a look around several sites, and don't see your specific
question posted. So, a couple of quick questions:
What operating sytem did you install Project 2007 under?
Are there other Office 2007 products (Office?) installed? If so, which
ones and in what order did you install the software -- did you install
Office then Project?
Have you activated your Project installation?
Did you have any Beta 2007 products installed before?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie,

I installed Project 2007 on a Win XP Pro laptop. Office 2003 Pro has been
on the machine for quite some time...long before Project. There have never
been a Beta of any kind installed. Yes, Project has been activated
sucessfully. Thanks for your help.

Craig,

Thanks for the information. I assume you are running SP2 on the XP
installation? Any other Office 2007 Products installed? I have Office 2007
and Project 2007 installed on a Windows XP Professional SP-2 OS and I don't
see the problems you are mentioning.

Julie,

No, I do not have any other Office 2007 applications installed on the
machine. The only 2007 app is Project. Yes, I am running WinXP Pro SP2.
I'm getting this configuration message several times a day. It is quite
annoying to the point I'm ready to remove Project from the machine if I can't
get this issue resolved.

Hi Craig,

I've done some more searching around and came across this one message in
another newsgroup about running Office 2003 and Project 2007.

See the reply from Boaz Lev [Microsoft] at the bottom of the post.

I don't know if this is the root of your problem, but at this point, I'm
thinking it may be related.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
