Configure Exchange Profile for the First time

J

Joe

After configuring exchange server 2007 the profile was configured on the
outlook 2003 client. When Outlook 2003 intially connects to the exchange
server to download emails a window pops up on the client asking "...would you
like to keep the client settings or use the server settings....." i can't
find any information telling me what "the client settting" are or what the
"server settings" are. Can anyone point out the features included with
either selection? I wonder if somehow rules are removed if i select Server,
or if spamm is not filtered at the server if i select Client.

Thanks.

Joe.

It means the rules configured on the client computer are different from the
rules stored in the Exchange Server mailbox and wants to know which set to
keep. Usually, you'll want to keep the server copy.

Which rules are these? Are these rules as might be applied to messages
coming into an inbox that the client may have for sorting emails? Like a
rule that would send all messages from bob jones into a bob jones folder? if
i click 'server' would those rules for sorting emails not be applied at the
client. If the client pc had 100 rules for sorting emails and i clicked
'server' then none of those 100 rules would be applied on the client any
longer? or are these rules as might be applied to blocking spam? or the junk
email filter on the client pc? Is there some technet or knowledge base that
might explain what the settings are? thanks for your input it is greatly
appreciated.

Ummm, could you post the entire contents of that popup? In re-reading your
post, I'm not entirely sure that messages rules are the popup's subject.
