Configure Intranet and Extranet on the same Server

Hello.
I'm new to the group.
I have only one web server with Sharepoint and Project Server
installed.
I'm trying to configure Project Web Acces to the Extranet, but I have
problems to access the projects' sites created by Sharepoint.
The only way I found to make it work was changing the registry value
IsExtranet, as seen in the Project Server 2003 Installation Guide.
But this enforces me to have two web servers, one for intranet and
other for extranet.
How can I make it work on the same server? Is there another way without
changing the registry?
