Configuring IMAP email

Larry Dean

I installed the 2007 beta 2 and to configure my IMAP email I must use SSL on
both incoming and outgoing mail servers. Incoming requires port 993 and
outgoing requires 587. Using these (as well as 25 and 465 on outgoing), I get
an error message that the server does not support the encryption type and to
contact the ISP. These parameters are from my ISP. I am connecting from home
using a VPN but had no problems with OL2003 and the same settings.
Suggestions?

In the advanced tab for the account settings do you have SSL selected in the
drop-down list in "Use the following type of encrypted connection:"

Yes both are set to SSL. There was a MS hot fix for a similar problem with
OL2003 but obviously, it doesn't work with this beta. The article ID is
839629.

I am experiencing the same problem with one of two IMAP connections only when
sending mail through Office 2007. IMAP works fine with Office 2003, and I've
tried encryption types of auto, none, and SSL without luck. Error:

0x800CCC80 None of the authentication methods supported by this client are
supported by your server.

What worked was to set incoming to port 993 and SSL and outgoing to 25 and
auto. Hope this helps.
