Bill Bradley
We use Ghost to clone and deploy our Corporate computes, with Office 2003
w/SP2. It's somewhat normal for multiple users to login to our computers,
creating multiple profiles.
During the initial install, one must enter user information, and, from that
point on, THAT username seems embedded and used by any later user--unless
deliberately changed. This is causing an issue, especially with shared data
files, as they all appear to be created and in use by the same user.
We're looking for a way to automatically embed the account name of the
current user, when they logon for the first time, into Office. It's not
essential that it be an ACTUAL name, the account name is fine (those that
desire, will manually change the name). I.e., my name is Bill Bradley, my
account is vhadenbradlwd, and, the account name is fine. While it is true
that, upon first use of any Office component, the splashscreen wanting user
information comes up, it's embedded with the original/initial username, and,
many users are just pressing Enter, without actually seeing what name is
there.
We tried putting %username% into the username during the install, and,
afterwards in the Registry, but, that didn't work (it took it, but,
immediately resolved it to the CURRENT user, and, then THAT name became
embedded).
Sooo...is there a way to make this happen?
Thanks!
