Configuring Outlook After Reinstall

We recently had to restore our PC to the factory state and reinstall Office.

Before reformatting the PC I backup up the .pst files for the three pop
accounts we have. Outlook.pst, Outlook1.pst and Outlook2.pst.

I also backed up the .srs, .NK2 and .xml files for each account.

Now that we have reinstalled Outlook 2003, it has created an Outlook3.pst
file and I can open the other .pst files, but am looking for a way to
import/recreate the email accounts. Is this possible? If so, how is it
accomplished?

Hi brmitchellfamily,

it seems that you have to create the email accounts by yourself:

srs = Send/Receive group settings (Outlook 2002 and later)

..nk2 = Nicknames for AutoComplete (Outlook 2002/2003)

xml = Navigation bar customizations (Outlook 2003)

If you want to use the "Outlook.pst" instead of the new "Outlook3.pst" as
default PST file, you could change this "default PST" under "Tools/email
Accounts/Show available Email accounts/ change here the delivery folder.

You can also create in this windows your email accounts.

Thank you for your help. Can I just rename the current three outlook*.pst
files and after I create the new accounts (with their associated .psf files)
open the old ones and copy from the old to the new to keep the history of
email?

Why not just use the Mail applet in Control Panel to instruct Outlook to use
your existing PST. You won't have to copy anything anywhere then.
