Hi Mike,
did you properly remove the Test Drive that came with your G5? If not, now
is the time to do so: in the Finder go to Applications>Microsoft Office
2004>Additional Tools>Remove Office, and run the Remove Office tool. Run it
to see if there are still traces of the Test Drive on your hard disk which
might interfere with subsequent Office installations. If the tool can find a
Test Drive, let it remove it. Now check if you can run Office on all your
Macs at the same time.
If that still doesn't work, you should de-serialise the copy on your G5,
provided you know exactly which product key is not being used by the G3s.
Have a look at the Office 2004 install disk; you should see three product
keys on the CD cover. If you don't remember which computer uses which, you
might have to de-serialise every single computer, but it's easily done and
the whole procedure shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes. Run the Remove
Office tool again, only this time, hold down the Option (alt) key before you
click on the Continue button. The "Continue" message on the button will
change into "Remove Licensing Information Only"; click on that button,
repeat the procedure for every single Mac, and the next time you run an
Office application, you will be asked to enter a product key. Do that, and
make sure you use every product key only once, one for every machine.
WARNING: in this newsgroup, we've recently seen some reports where Office's
tool to check licenses in use on the network seems to misbehave and not work
properly. It may be that the method I've just described does not change
anything, or make matters worse. Please keep that in mind; depending on how
urgent your situation is, you might want to wait until there is
clarification on this issue.
I'm using v11.3 of Office:mac on three iMacs. One G5 and two G3's on a
home network. The G3's can run simultaneously all the Office
applications but not with the G5 running an app. I know the G5 had a
trial version of Office, did that somehow interfere to cause this
problem and is there a fix that I can apply to the G5 to resolve the
conflict. My Office:mac has three Product Keys. The G5 was upgraded from
a G3 and it used to work fine simultaneous before the hardware upgrade.
The G5 runs the apps just fine. Running latest Mac OSX on the G5 and OS
X 10.3.9 on the G3's.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Regards,
Mike
