conflict or...?

Hi everybody, I have a problem with my Outlook completely disappearing.

I installed Office 2007 Enterprise, but when I saw that no two versions of
outlook can coexist on a single computer, I decided to keep my old office
2003 Pro as well, WITHOUT installing outlook 2007.

All office 2007 programs work like a charm, but the first time I tried to
use Outlook (2003, that is) a pop-up install window appeared, automatically
installed Outlook 2007 and completely erased ALL of my outlook versions, so
now I have none.

When I try (using "add/remove...") to reconfigure 2003 and just remove
outlook, it tells me that a few .cab files are missing and asks for the
original installation CD. however, after having provided the CD, outlook
still doesn't exist.

I tried to install just outlook 2007 (also using "add/remove..."), but the
dialog in which I'm asked to add/remove components has only "not available"
option when I click on outlook in the program tree.

Does anyone have a clue what's going on?

Thanks in advance!

Best to go from here is to uninstall both Office 2003 and 2007. Then first
install Office 2003 and addition service packs and updates and then do a
custom installation of Office 2007 and deselect to install Outlook.

I was actually hoping that there could be a way of circumventing removing and
reinstalling entire office, but I'll try that and get back to you if that
doesn't work.

Thanks!

Trust me; at this point reinstalling will go faster and is much easier.
