Confused on which version to buy Office 2003 or Office XP

On my computer at home I am running Home XP on my
machine. I need to buy Office in order to download and
use for instance excel. I currently have Microsoft Works
on my machine. I already have Work 2002 on my machine.

I stuck between buying Office XP and Office 2003. One
place I read says you need XP Professional OS and another
I read says it runs on XP Home version. I confused.
From others experience, is it better to buy the Office
2003 or the Office XP.

Thanks,
Keith

All versions of Office2003 will work on ANY version of WindowsXP (or
Windows2000/2003).

Well, not quite "ANY" version. If a user has Windows 2000, then they need
Windows 2000-SP3 or later for Office 2003.

For Office 2003 System Requirements, visit:

However, you're correct that home/professional doesn't matter. For Keith's
question, he'd have no problem using Office 2000, Office XP or Office 2003
on his Windows XP Home computer. As to which he should get... if he plans to
use Outlook, I'd definitely say to go with Office 2003, since its version of
Outlook is vastly improved over earlier versions. Excel 2003 (which Keith
mentions) does have some improvements over Excel 2002, but they're not
nearly as significant (IMO).

In addition to OS comments.

You should choose the Office 2003 upgrade edition that includes the
applications you want to use. Works in not a qualifying product for Office
XP upgrade edition but is for Office 2003 upgrade edition.

I stand corrected. I live in a magical little world where of course
everyone is running the latest service packs. ;-)
