I have a couple of questions regarding the microsoft
project 2002.

now firstly i have installed project server 2002 on my pc
and also the sharepoint configaration wizard.

now when i go to "promote to project" to promote my "todo
list" to a project i get the note saying i must have
project proffesional installed on my machine to do this.

Now my question is that does everyone who has to promote
to do list have to have project professional installed on
the machine or just the server has to have it..

will appreciate if response if given quickly

thanks in advance

Regards....

Project Server and Project Professional work together hand in glove. You
create your projects in Project Professional. Project Server kicks in when
you need to distribute the project plan you have created and make it
accessable to the other people concerned with the project - stakeholders,
resources, funcional managers and project managers, etc., who need to see
and/or update the plan. Server without Project is useless. Also, having
Project Professional installed without it having accss to a Server
installation as well disables all the enterprise PM tools in it, making it
functionally identical to Project Standard.

Remember other tools are also required with Project Server - SQL Server,
IIS, etc

I wonder if you are really going in the right direction here. Project is
NOT a super enhanced calendar and to-do list on steroids. If you have a lot
of users who want to use it just to manage what has been their Outlook task
list you're swatting flies with an elephant gun <grin>.
