Confusion about property line bearings on site plan

I'm recreating a site plan from a paper copy that was done with
AutoCAD. Each of the 4 property lines lists the bearing and distance,
but I'm having difficulty in replicating this in Visio.
For example, the first property line on the paper plan states "N 75
deg. 42' 37" E", so after dragging a property line shape onto my
drawing, I entered that in the Size & Position window, but the line
then went the wrong way. I ended up having to enter "90 deg. - 75 deg.
42' 37"" in order to have it display correctly on my drawing. Then,
with each of the next three property lines, I had to play with the
numbers, adding or subtracting from 90 or 180, until I got the results
I needed. There has to be an easier way, without all the guesswork
trial and error, no?

Also, is there any significance to the orientation of the ends of the
property line shape, with regard to right, left, top, bottom? One end
has the "+", the other has the "x", do these need to be situated any
particular way?

Thnx,
Phil
