Confusion on how Palm Treo 600 syncs w/ Entourage local and Exchange folders

I'm an intermediate/advanced PC Outlook user that's switched to a
MacBook at work. We use Exchange Server w/ our PCs. I had my Outlook
setup w/ a personal folder and ran everything from my laptop, including
syncing w/ my Treo 600 and pulling mail off of an Exchanger Server
account.

I couldn't figure out how to implement a similar configuration in
Entourage. I have the "Folders on My Computer" and a separate Exchange
account to connect to the Exchange Server. When I Hotsync, my Calendar
and Contacts sync w/ the Exchange account and my Tasks and Notes sync
w/ the local folders. For the life of me, I can't seen to find where
this is controlled, I checked and changed the Palm Desktop Sync
settings but nothing different happened. Ideally, I'd like ALL of the
syncing to only occur w/ my local folder. That way my contacts and
notes won't be stored on the Exchange server.

Ideas?

HotSync syncs the default account. If you want the data from your
Exchange account to sync you need to set the Exchange account as the
default one.

Thanks again. You said "If you want the data from your

w/in the Hotsync menus that configured a Default account to sync with.

I believe he meant that you should go to the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts"
and then the "Mail" tab and set your default account there.

OK, I reread my question. Oops.

I want to sync w/ my local folder. Any way to do that?

You need to have an account "on my computer". If you don't have one, you
could probably even create a bogus POP account and make it the default.
Only problem: when you create a new e-mail it will have the e-mail
address associated with that default account in the From field and it
will use the associated SMTP. That could be a bit tedious.

Any reason you don't want to sync to your Exchange account ??

In the current version of Entourage (11.2.x) the Entourage Palm conduit
syncs contacts and calendar from the Address Book and Calendar associated
with your default mail account: if the Exchange account is default it syncs
the main Exchange Contacts and Calendar folders. If a POP or IMAP account is
default, it syncs to local Address Book and Calendar :On My Computer". (In
Entourage, Tasks and Notes are only local, so that's where they sync from
always.)

That setting is controlled in Tools/Accounts/Mail - select and click Make
Default. Do that just before synching - you can then reset it afterwards. If
you don't have a POP or IMAP account, make a dummy POP account with a
made-up SMTP server only (no POP server needed): DON'T add it to Send &
Receive schedule! Make this dummy account default just before synching.
