Hi,
Good question! No we can't. It can so far only talks with Analysis
server cubes and some other RDBMS vendors such as Oracle in a
relational mode.
The reason behind this strategy was to penetrate into the BI world.
Since 1999, SQL Server and Analysis server was considered as a little
toy and over 85% of the responses was "it can't do any serious things!".
But they really have improved exponentially with cutting down the DW
Project costs to thousands from millions.
In my point of view, Microsoft should really think about providing
access to the Oracle, Hyperion etc., OLAP Cubes with OWC. Lots of
corporate industry has their own OLAP cubes top of Oracle, Hyperion, IBM
AS/400 etc., and they simply not gonna chuck those way.
But you know........Microsoft has a tendency to wipe out everything
from its way.
Hope we could better things in future!
