We have MOSS 2007 SP1, Exchange 2003 SP2 and Outlook 2007 SP1. When users are
assigned tasks, if they click the 'Connect to this Task List' button in the
email message they receive... CPU usage spikes, Send/Receive for SharePoint
Lists hangs at Processing, and the task list is never synchronized. Closing
Outlook does not terminate outlook.exe...you must kill it manually.
Restarting Outlook immediately spikes the CPU again, etc. Deleting the
SharePoint task list from Outlook and then closing Outlook and killing
outlook.exe will return the system to normal.
Starting from the SharePoint task list in a browser and choosing Actions,
Connect to Outlook works just fine.
A couple others have reported this issue
