I know what I'm about to post is probably outside the scope of what this site
is intended for, but I have no idea where to turn at this point. I have an MS
Access 2002/XP ADP application that connects to a SQL Server Express 2005
database. I have over 1/2 dozen customers who I have installed and have up
and running just fine.
But, for some reason, I have another customer who has nothing but problems.
I have been able to install SQL Server 2005 Express on their server, which is
running Windows Server 2003 I believe. Now, several of their workstations
connect to the server just fine, but other workstations cannot connect at
all. These other workstations just say it cannot find the server, even though
I have installed Management Studio on these workstations and its able to
register with the server just fine. I would think that if Management Studio
can see the server, so shoudl my clients, since I know the connection string
is 100% correct.
I know this place is not the appropriate place to post this, but I'm at a
total loss at what to do to get my customer up and running. Since I am not a
Network Admin, I have little knowledge how to troubleshooet this problem
because I feel its a network related issus.
Is there a utility that I can have installed on the client computer that
would help diagnose why I can't find the server?
Or, is there a web-site I can direct my customer too which well help assist
them with determining why my application will not see the server?
Again, I already have several workstations at this site that connect to the

Management Studio installation on these machines are able to register the

Any insite on what I must do would be appreciated. I'd just like to respond
to my customer inteligently with how he can find a resultuion. My thought at
this point is for them to have a Network Admin come on site.
