Connecting to Excel

I have to create a chart that has some shapes that should connect to an excel
spread sheet. Each shape should act as a filter bringing up only certain
info in excel. Is there a tutorial somewhere to learn how to do this. I
have tried using the database wizard tool, but when it ask to define the
table I don't know what to do.
