Connecting to Exchange over http??

Hi

My company has moved to a hosted Exchange server, and my windows
machine connects OK via outlook, but Entourage has problems.

I'm trying to connect to an exchange server, over http - so I'm
entering the OWA address in the Exchange server field. This address
works perfectly from safari, but doesn't work in Entourage. (there are
no certificates here btw).

If I try entering the actual exchange server name, it refuses to
connect - presumably because outlook doesn't support RPC over HTTP, or
perhaps because the connection on outlook is proxied and there's
nowhere to enter this in entourage...

Whatever the reason - I'm not faced with having to use Windows!!!

Any ideas?

Regards

Can you connect with OWA?

If the answer is yes, then the server settings are OK and Entourage should
be able to connect. Use the address that works in OWA as the server address
in Entourage.

If not, then OWA needs to be turned on on the server before Entourage will
work.

Hi

I can connect fine with OWA, but when I copy the web address into
Entourage I get the rather unhelpful:

An unknown error (-50) occurred.

I have tried various forms for the web address, i.e. https://server/ or
server/exchange or server/exchange/username, etc but all to no avail.

The domain is an unknown too, as the OWA entry is empty on my MIS
instructions...

Any ideas?

Hi Shaun!

For your server address, leave out the https. Simply enter the address
such as "webmail.company.com" or "webmail.company.com/exchange".

Since your OWA connection is HTTPS then you need to select the option
"This DAV service requires a secure connection (SSL)". That will take
care of the HTTPS portion of your address.

Hope this helps! bill
