Hi,
When I try connecting a local client running Project Pro 2003 to my Project
Web Server I get the following error message
In my Project Server Accounts, a profile to my Project Server. Its URL is
http://SERVER2003/ProjectServer. When I test the connection I receive the
following error:
"Unexpected server response. Project Server has returned an unextpected
response. ..."
Upon clicking the View button for more details, I receive an error page
indicating that
"You are not authorized to view this page: You do do not have permission to
view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied because
your Web browser is sending a WWW-Authenticate header field that the Web
server is not configured to accept. ... HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized:
Access is denied due to server configuration. Internet Information Services
(IIS)"
Nevertheless, I can access the URL above within my web browser.
I Checked the newsgroup and Found the following resolution
To work around this behavior, use SharePoint Central Administration to
exclude the Project Server 2003 path from Windows SharePoint Services. To do
so, follow these steps:
1. On the server that is running Windows SharePoint Services, start
SharePoint Central Administration.
2. On the Windows SharePoint Services Central Administration page, under
Virtual Server Configuration, click Extend or upgrade virtual server.
3. On the Virtual Server List page, click complete list.
4. On the Virtual Server List page, click the name of the virtual server
where Windows SharePoint Services is configured--for example, click Default
Web Site.
5. On the Virtual Server Settings page, under Virtual Server Management,
click Define managed paths.
6. On the Define Managed Paths page, in the Add a New Path area, type the
Project Server 2003 path that you want to exclude from Windows SharePoint
services--for example, type /ProjectServer.
7. Under Type, click Excluded path, and then click OK.
To avoid this behavior, install and configure Windows SharePoint Services
before you install Project Server 2003.
I followed the above steps and placed the /projectserver on the defined path
box and selected Excluded path. I ran the check URL option and it connected
to the project home page, but when I selected OK to complete the process I
got the following error
Windows SharePoint Services
Error
"Cannot add the prefix "/projectserver", because its name is the same as an
existing prefix. "
Does any one have any ideas what I can do next to resolve this problem
