Connecting to SarePoint List Web Service with parameters

I'm forced to use JavaScript to populate drop-down lists from SharePoint
lists. I'd rather do this automatically from a wizard but cannot seem to
get this to work.

The structure of the SharePoint web services require me to include one or
more parameters when I want to retreive data (not submit).

The only example I've found that shows how to use JavaScript tow query web
service methods tha trequire parameters uses MSSOAP which I'd rather not
use.

Any examples or suggestions?

Have you tried getting data "from a sharepoint list" when setting up a Data
Connection with Infopath SP1?
