Connecting with Microsoft CRM 3.0 via Web Service

Hello, community.

I'm trying to connect an InfoPath form with Microsoft CRM 3.0 via the
standard CRM webservice. The problem is that the connection fails due to an
"unknown error". The Web Service works fine, I can call it with the Internet
Explorer and it responds as it should. InfoPath is also working fine - other
connections work.

Does anyone have a clue why this could happen?

Thank you, but that only applies for the 1.2-version of MS CRM. We are
working with 3.0 and the credential problem is solved with the standard CRM
webservice there.

It has to be something else.

Okay. Sorry I cannot be of more help to you right now. If you find the
solution, please post it so that others can learn from it? Thank you.

It might help posting this question in the CRM group too. Perhaps someone
has tried using InfoPath with CRM there; just an idea...

No problem, friend.

I already posted it in the CRM section and I'll link to the answer as soon
as I find one.

Howdy,
I've done a little work with the CRM 3.0 web service so I may be able to
help
What are you actually trying to do with the web service e.g. are you
attmpeting to query from CRM or create new records?

Cheers
Ben

Howdy to you, too!

The basic idea is to get some customer information from CRM into InfoPath
and later send some data from InfoPath back to CRM to fill out some blank
fields. As far as I know our solution doesn't need to create any records.

Aaron

I've been having a talk to our CRM specialist in the office and the first
question he asked was "is he attempting to access the CRM web service
directly from InfoPath?"
Basically if your looking to access the CRM webservices from within InfoPath
best bet is to wrap the CRM web service in your own web service and then
expose the fucnationality you want to use.

I'll attempt to put up a blog post detailing this latter on this week if
your having troubles setting this up.

if not let me know how you go
Cheers
Ben

Hi, Ben.

That would be extremely helpful.

We are attempting to access the CRM web service directly from Infopath and
we didn't have a clue that this couldn't work.
I'm the Infopath-guy and not the CRM-specialist. I'll pass on the info you
gave me, maybe he can create a new webservice. If you write a blog entry, it
would be great if you'd post the link here.

Thank you very much!

I'll do my best to get something done by the end of the week.
Can I assume you've used managed code in Infopath before?

A

Yes, although not very complex code.

But I'm a quick study, so don't worry...

Thanks a lot!
