Connection aborts during e-mail download !!

Does anyone have a clue as to why our Hotmail connection aborts when
downloading larger e-mail attachments? We download attachments up to 3 Mb
with no problem, but any attachment of 4Mb or more ultimately terminates the
connection before it downloads. We have a fast DSL connection and the
downloads really don't take long. In fact, a few weeks ago we had no
trouble at all downloading a 7 Mb attachment. But now we can't even
download that same attachment, attached to the same e-mail, in the same
inbox, for the same Hotmail account. We would greatly appreciate any ideas
as to why we can no longer download these larger attachments?

I'll answer my own question for the benefit of other interested parties.
Outlook has a download server time-out limit of 1 minute in the case of HTTP
accounts. Ridiculous, but true. On the other hand, the lowly Outlook
Express has no such HTTP time-out limit. Therefore, you can create an
account in Outlook Express for the same HTTP server and download the emails
there. You then export the emails with the large attachments into Outlook
2002. It is very unfortunate they have handicapped Outlook in this fashion,
especially in a world of growing attachments. I have never understood why
Outlook, the big brother to Outlook Express, has diminished capacity. In
addition to this limitation, Outlook users must also access Outlook Express
in order to interact with news groups.
