Connection Failed Error Message - Project Server 2003

L

L. Davis

I received this error message when opening one of our project
workplans on Project Server 2003:

Connection failed:
SQLState: 'S1T00' SQL
Server Error: 0
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver] Timeout expired

I clicked OK, and then a new dialog asked me to log in to my SQL
analyzer. When I clicked cancel, the project still opened and
appeared to function normally and none of the data seemed amiss. We
also received a connection error this weekend when our data mart tried
to pull this particular workplan for status reports, so I now have
good reason to believe these two errors are related. None of our
other workplans are having any issues, and no other workplans failed
for the data mart. Any ideas on what is causing this error and how we
can fix it? This is the first time we've encountered this issue, and
this is not a new workplan.

Thanks for your help.

This sounds like it could be corruption in the project file. One of the
therapies that you can try is exporting to XML and re-importing it to
Project Server. Note that the XML export/import functions in 2003 are "less
than elegant." I, therefore, recommend that you also apply the following
procedure after your export/import therapy:
