Connection Failure error

Have large Access ade on SQL server. Attempt to run a
complex query (uses views and functions). After so many
records, (no pattern) get "Runtime error '-2147467259
(80004005)': Connection Failure

If DEBUG button is clicked, it goes to code: rs.Open QS,
Access.CurrentProject.Connection, adOpenForwardOnly,
adLockReadOnly
