I am testing Project Server 2003 for our organization, Project 2003 Pro
client on WIN2K SP4 and XP SP1 OS's. Project Server 2003 is installed on a
WIN2K3 Standard server running SQL 2000 v. 8.00.818 SP3 Standard Edition.
My test client accounts can connect to PWA using Windows authentication
without problem, they are configured as Project Managers in PWA. However
when launching the Project 2003 Pro client it authenticates and then I get
the following error message
"The Project Server database is unavailable.
You can’t access the database for one of the following reasons:
There is a problem with the enterprise global template in the database.
You do not have sufficient permission to access the enterprise global
template.
Network problems are preventing access.
Project Server does not have enterprise features enabledâ€
I have checked locale settings on the clients and server, they are the same.
An authenticated user can open a Project while in PWA using the list
feature, edit it, save it and publish it to Project Server where it is seen
by other users. But a user cannot open a Project file directly from their
desktop installation of Project Pro. This would appear to indicate an issue
with accessing the enterprise global template.
I do not have enterprise features enabled, in our test environment we
planned to implement in a non-enterprise configuration initially.
