Connection Point Detail

On the Shape Sheet section Connection Point there are cells for DirX and DirY
which from the help and manuals I suspect are for a purpose I would like to
use.
I'd like the connections made from the connection points to lead straight
out to the left (not up/down or to the right).
The descriptions I have read are of no help, and experimenting has yielded
no clues. Does anyone understand, or if I'm trying the wrong section to get
this done, can you point me at the right location/method?

Thanks,

Hugo

DirX and DirY are for connecting two 2D shapes together. See ductwork or
worktop shapes, for examples.
They won't help with changing the angle of dangle of 1D connectors.
