Connection Point User-interface

Hello All!

One of the posters in the Netherlands forum was asking; "What ever happened
to those nifty green arrows that allowed you to adjust the direction and
type of connection points?"

Well, they were sadly removed from the product, with Visio 2002 (I think)

Since I and many others have missed this feature, I've just developed a
simple tool that will help get some of that functionality back. Via VB code,
special "UI shapes" get placed on top of connection points in your shapes.
Then you can simply rotate the UI shapes, and right-click to change the
types.

The article and download are here:

Yes this feature is not available to the end user from Visio 2002 and later.
BUT !!! it is always there for the crazy guy playing with the shapesheet.
Look at the line of the connection point section :

- Make a rectangle
- Create a connectionpoint on it.
- Duplicate the shape.
- Open the shape sheet of the first shape.
- Put 2 in the type/D cell (inward and outward type)
- Put the same value in the dir X/A and dir Y/B cell 25,4 mm for example
(the default value of Dir Y/B when you create a connectionpoint).

When you try to glue the second shape to the first the gluing occur at 45
degrees (The dir X and dir Y define the old UI vector).
I think it was better when we have a UI method. Perhaps in Visio 2008. You
can also add some VBA lines to enhance your shape with a right click menu
that fills the cells.

Or just read the first post, and download my tool : )

The download gives you a UI for doing all of this!
