Connection points not enabled. How do I fix this.

In Visio 2000, the installation that's on my corporate laptop, any time I try
to add a connection point by the procedures that I have successfully used
dozens of times on other installations, here I am getting the message that
connection points are not enabled. Thus I am absolutely unable to add a
connection point to anything. I cannot find a location for changing the
configuration, options or properties thus that I can add a connection point.
Any hints as to what is wrong with my installation, how to fix it??

You can change the visibility of connection points on the View menu. They
must be visible to work.
