connection to http://oe.msn.msnmail.hot... could not be establishe

On March 6, 2008, I noted my email when using Outlook 2003 sp3 was not being
synced for my on-line accounts. I am now consistently receiving the error
message: A connection to the server could not be established.
http://oe.msn.msnmail.hotmail.com/cgi-bin/hmdata is now in offline mode.

My mail configuration for my msn http account had been working.
Also, my mapi mail configuration for an older msn account was working.
Now, neither work.

What do I need to do to reestablish the connectivity?

I have Outlook Connector and I believe it was working until Mar 6. It is the
7th tab in my command bar across the top.

I also have 'windows live mail' as an application. I am not running the
windows live mail, and I don't see any process in my task manager that seems
to be associated with it.

I am able to view my msn & hotmail accounts using windows live mail,
however, I prefer accessing all of my email using outlook.

Does anyone have any more ideas of how I might proceed so I can get my
outlook working like it used to?

Thanks,

I attempted the proposed solution without success. I also uninstalled
'windows live mail' thinking it might have caused a conflict. This didn't
help.

I am wondering:
1) when I click 'outlook connector' and then click 'get started', IE opens
and the title bar shows "Microsoft Office Outlook Connector overview -
Outlook - Microsoft Office Online - Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by
Verison' . Through January 2008, I utilized Verizon as my ISP and then I
switched to another. To utilize OUtlook connector, does one have to have a
special account?

2) should I be considering a way to remove 'outlook connector' and then
attempt to re-install it? I am not sure how I would go about doing this.
Any suggestions on whether I should do this or not?

3) I have another computer where I have not configured Outlook 2003. I just
rebuilt this other computer changing from a p4 intel cpu to a dual core intel
cpu. Would there be a way I could transfer my existing email files, calendar
and contacts from my laptop so I couls have everything in one place?

Thanks,

Update:
I found that the address link oe.msn.msnmail.hotmail.com was created when I
had Verizon dsl and they offered an MSN premium service.

I have uninstalled msn using add/remove programs and I have used regedit to
delete all entries associated with msn6 and msn9.

With no entry in the registry for oe.msn.msnmail.hotmail.com, when I restart
outlook (which has outlook connector), it shows a connection could not be
made to oe.msn.msnmail.hotmail.com/cgi-bin/hmdata.

I did create a second profile, and will try creating a 3rd. I believe I
created the 2nd profile before I cleaned up my registry and deleted msn.

I have found trying to configure web-based 'msn' accounts using outlook
connect doesn't always work. I am given the choice of hotmail and other.
The hotmail configuration doesn't work for a msn account and I can't find the
url to use for when I specified other. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

egghead café don't work either - the text they prepend to posts is really
annoying. Use the official Microsoft interface instead (or a different
forum - like forums.slipstick.com)

This thread is at

Did you remove the connector accounts and recreate them?

Also, the HTTP acct is dead -

To continue to receive e-mail from your Hotmail account, you need to select
one of the methods below to connect to Hotmail. After September 1, 2009 new
e-mail can only be delivered to your mail programs through the following
solutions.

If you use Outlook 2003/2007, you can download the free Outlook Connector to
continue receiving Hotmail. If you're using Outlook 2002, you will need to
change the account to use POP3. If you use Outlook Express to view Hotmail,
you can choose between downloading Windows Live Mail (free) or reconfigure
your account to use POP3. See
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/msn_denied.asp for details.
