Connectivity/Errors for some project files

I am getting the following 2 errors for 2 files:
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DNET LIB]Connectionread (WrapperRead())

and

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Communication link failure

Does anyone know what they mean and more importantly, how I fix them? I
can't access these files at all, so I think it means they are somehow corrupt
and/or checked out on the backend.

The cause of this ended up being faulty hardware in my network. We replaced
the hardware, moved the server on the network and adjusted the dns from the
enterprise machine.
