I was setting up a new laptop (WinXP w/all updates) and found that I had
lost all ability to connect to network resources. I could PING
everything (IP & DNS). IPCONFIG /ALL showed the correct parameters.
However I was unable to connect to network drives or any UNC resource.
Wired & wireless had the same problem.
I re-imaged the machine and re-configured it. Now it works fine. Only
difference is that I installed SP2 for Office 2003 vs. SP3. I did s
search, but couldn't find this. I can't shake the notion that this is a
known problem with SP3. Note that I applied it from the downloaded file,
not WSUS2 or WSUS 3...
Does anyone know of any similar problems caused by SP3?
