Connector Labels

When I've got a decision box on a flow chart, the connectors leading away
from it may go a very long way to another box on the chart. I want the text
on the connector to be in very close proximity to the decison box, but it
seems that the default is for the text to be 1/2 way between the endpoints on
the connector. Is there a way to position the text closer to one of the ends
on a connector?

When you select the connector, you should see a little yellow dot where the
text is. Just grab this and pull it to the desired position. The text will
follow.

If you have an older version of Visio or an older drawing, then you might
not see this. Go to the Text Block Tool, which is beneath the "A" (drop-down
the toolbar button) It's an "A" with a circle around it. This allows you to
reposition text.
