Connector line doesn't move until I release the mouse

I have Visio 2003. After some Windows updates completed my Visio
application changed behavior:

Say I've connected two box shapes with a Line-Curve Connector. When I
grab the control handle (yellow diamond, midpoint on the line) and drag
it to reroute the path of the line, the line doesn't move with the
pointer.

Instead, what appears is another line (like a branch) coming from the
diamond and stretching to where my mouse pointer is moved to.

When I release the mouse the line reshapes to where my pointer was
placed.

The line used to follow me; flow with the mouse, and I could see it
repositioning.

Is this behavior something I could have accidentally activated? If so,
how do I deactivate it?

Thanks in advance for your guidance! Pete

I feel it a bit strange. How did you make it? If I were you, I would study
and analyse the shape like an organazation chart, and make full use of them.

Pete,

It looks like you've accidentally got one of the 'tree' connectors, ie:
'Multi-tree square' or 'Multi-tree sloped', which are used for creating,
well, tree diagrams. Each tree connector has up to 6 branches stored behind
all those little yellow diamonds.
