Connector text

On a flowchart, I'm using "Yes" and "No" connectors from
decision diamonds. I want to include those labels on the
connectors themselves.

Double clicking on the connector lets me enter the text,
but it's in the middle of the connector. For long
connectors, this might be far from the diamond.

I know I can create a text box and put it near the
connector, but is there a way to move the connector's own
text box to the beginning of the line?

Thanks,
Bob K.

When I've been in this situation, I've used a "line curve connector" even
for a straight-line arrow. This connector has a control point in the
middle. You can drag that control point along the length of the connector
to reposition the connector's own text box.
.

Thanks! It seems to work, but only if the connector
becomes a straight line. On my diagrams, I've got routed
connectors, and I can't seem to make the line-curve
connector make square corners. Is that possible? In
these diagrams they don't want curved lines.

Thanks,

If you select the Text Block tool and click on the text for the line,
you can move to a better place.

Thanks, but it doesnt seem to work. I click on Text Tool,
then click on the connector text. I can edit the text,
but not move it. I can create a new text box and group it
with the line, but I was hoping to avoit that.

I'm using Visio 2000 SR1, if that makes a difference.

The Text Tool and Text Block Tool are different tools. Look for a dropdown
arrow next to the Text Tool on the Standard toolbar and you should see the
Text Block Tool. Or select the TextTool and select your connector and press
F2. That should switch between the two tools.

Once you have the Text Block Tool, you can drag the text into position.
