Connectors don’t work in one document but do in another!

I have a large multi page document I’ve been working on for sometime. All of
a sudden I can’t connect shapes into his document! When I cut and paste two
shapes form the document into a new document I can connect them, when I cut
and paste them back into the original documents I can no longer connect them.
Please tell me there is some setting that I accidently switched that I can
switch back to eliminate this behavior…please?

menu Tools -> Snap and Glue
Also check the layer properties and ensure that snap and glue for any
layers haven't been turned off (menu View -> Layer Properties)
