Connectors get disconnect from groups on moves

Processor: Intel

I have the following strange behavior:
(1) Create two squares S1 and S2. group them
(2) Create another square S3
(3) Create a connector attached to S1 and S3
(4) Selects everything
(5) Move the selection
The connector gets disconnected from S1 which is within a group.
If you do not select the connector, it does not get disconnected.
The behavior is also correct when there are no groups involved.

The logic of the connector inheritence must not flow properly inside groups.

Gellule, I just want to add my voice to your problem with Connectors in Office 2008. This has been frustrating me for the last couple of months as I'm always doing a lot of flow related diagrams in Powerpoint and the connectors keep 'unconnecting' from their respective boxes.

Not only do the connectors keep disconnecting as above in Gellule's comments, they also disconnected when saving and opening the file again or transferring the file from my Mac to Office 2007 on windows whether in .ppt or pptx format.

The connectors worked great in Office 2004 bar their inability to snap together when you change the midpoint manually (see below) - what's happened to them in 2008? It takes ages each time we want to move parts of the flow diagram around to reconnect all the associated connectors.

While I'm on the subject, it is also very difficult to manually align the connectors when you need to change a 2 way elbow connector mid point. There needs to be an option where they 'snap' to a grid or rather snap to each other. A couple of mm's out looks really messy on screen or on print and there's no reason they shouldn't align.

Can we please have a downgraded version of connectors back to how they worked in 2004?!!

Thanks
Chris

Hi, Gellule,

I'm trying to repro your problem, but this seems to work for me. I am
creating my shapes from the Object Palette (using the first square). Is
this how you created your "squares?"

On step 3, I just used the curved connector and elbow connector. For step
4, I did a "Select All", I also tried shift-click selection and I did not
get the disconnect when moving the selection. Did you do something
different than I did?

Thanks,

Yes, directly from the Object Palette.

Still having the problem on my side. The disconnetion does not actually show up on the move of step (5). The fact that the connector gets disconnected is not obvious but can be noticed by the color of the connection point going from red to blue. Also, if I select only the group after the move, and move the group one more time, the connector does not follow.

Let's try adding a step (6): Select only the group S1+S2, move it.
