Conpatilibility Pack stops working after SP3 installed

After much testing, I found that the compatibility pack works fine with Word
2003 until I install SP3. Then it doesn't work anymore. So I have had to roll
back users to pre-SP3.

I even tried grabbing the newest version of the compatibility pack off the
web site as well, and that didn't help either.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?

I should mention that it is only some of our old .doc files that stop getting
reformatted correctly.

Some still work but others only work with SP2 and in in SP3.

Hi Genie,

Could you provide a bit more detail on this please? .doc files wouldn't be handled by the Office 2007 compatibility pack unless
you're resaving as .docx/.docm, for example.

What is different than befor as far as formatting?

Hi Bob,
I really don't know what is different about the format. I looked at the
date the file was created and it was created on May 22/08. So I believe it
was created with Word 2003, as most users don't have 2007 yet.
I can open the document fine with Word 2007, and Word 2003 SP2. But it
gives this list of formats to choose from for Word 2003 SP3 and I tried
selecting different formats, but can't seem to find the right one that will
open it successfully. When it does open it, it looks like a binary file.
For now, we just rolled that user back to Word 2003 SP2.
