Hello, can anyone help please? I have a long list of Company names and I need to number each row in sequence starting a 1. I'm sure I must be able to ask Excel to input consecutive numbers for me rather than inputting them individually but I just don't know how to do this. Any advice gratefully received.

What you are trying to do is called a "Fill Series". Search for this in
Excel Help (or ask the Office Assistant).

Just enter 1 for the first one, 2 for the second one. Then highlight the 2
cells. Move the cursor over the bottom right corner of the bottom cell until
the cursor turns to a plus sign. Then drag down for as far as you need.
