consecutivly numbering a publisher doc

i've created coupons in publisher, 3 to a page via
arranging the layout to include 3 rows... i have the copy
etc. completed, now i need to insert the coupon numbers,
which i'd like to begin at 001. because i'm printing 3
coupons to a page, i need to format a small text box to
insert the (coupon) number, begining with 001 and
acending w/, not only each page, but each individual
coupon on the page.... if anyone can offer assistance i'd
appreciate it!
