Considering OneNote purchase - full or upgrade question

I'm considering purchasing OneNote. I purchased Office 2007 standard edition
upgrade version when it first came out. I recently had a need to purchase
Access 2007. I didn't want to buy a whole new suite so I just got Access. I
did get the full version of it. Now in considering the OneNote purchase. Do
I need to buy the full version or can I just get an upgrade version? I will
continue to use what I'm using now.

Also am wondering what happens the next time Microsoft comes out with a new
Office version. I will definately buy the one that has everything I need
rather than peicing things together again. Would I be able to just get an
upgrade version at that point?

You have to have a full version of the same product in order to get the
upgrade. If you do not have a full version of OneNote then you'd have to
buy the full version.

Next time you will need to buy the new version, but just the upgrade
(which is cheaper). Newer versions tipically do something new. Minor
updates are free and delivered with Automatic updates of Windows.

Hi Michael,

Thanks. My husband told me to buy hte full version just to be safe. It can
be a little confusing because when I looked at the list of products that it
said would qualify you for upgrade pricing, in addition to previous version
of OneNote it said any Office product and Works. But I also remember in the
past that if you do use a product to qualify for an upgrade that you need to
stop using the previous product.

Hi Sid,

I was hoping that I'd be able to get away with that. If we had thought
about our future needs when buying Office we probably would have gotten the
Ultimate versions for both just to be sure.

Now I"m hoping it's at least a few years before they come out with a new
version. I'm one of those people who always likes to have the newest version
of programs I use all the time.
