consolidated project files

Hi

just wondering if 65 files (each with around 100 tasks) would be
(practically) too many to consolidate into a master project file - looking
at sharing resources as well across the files.

Does anyone have any warnings / advice / things to look for when doing this.

Cheers

Hi Julie,

I've been there, there is no fundamental problem but time is not on your
side.
Depending on computer memory opening the pool can take 10 minutes or so.

Julie,
We consolidated 70+ files, a few had less than 100 lines but several
files had several hundred tasks, and that was using Project 4.x. No
problem and it didn't take but a few seconds to open the master.

In Project 98, the max number was 30 before you would
starting getting out of memory errors. We got around
this problem by creating mini consolidated files that
rolled up into one master consolidated. Not sure if 2002
or 2003 have a max.
