ConsolidateProjects - Different Versions

Dave Stumbles

I have experienced a problem with the ConsolidateProjects method and wanted
to know if anyone knew of any fixes.

I realise that MS Project 98 is no longer supported, but that is what we are
stuck with here. I use ConsolidateProjects to bring in a Project file in 98
using VBA code. When someone transfered my code to MS Project 2003 on another
site, it accepted the same code as used in 98, but the ConsolidateProjects
method didn't work. It didn't bring in the other project file at all. The
help in 2003 seems to indicate that the same arguments I use in 98 can also
be used in 2003 (FileNames, NewWindow, AttachToSources, HideSubTasks).

What I also noticed is that PCs on our site that have had MS Project 2000
installed, then removed and had 98 installed have had the same problem with
the ConsolidateProjects method. (I can hear you all asking why would we
remove 2000 and install 98 - suffice to say that consistency was required so
the decision was made to remain with 98, so machines that had 2000 on them
were reverted back to 98 - I didn't say the decision was a wise one!).

Any help people can offer to assist in me being able to get
ConsolidateProjects to work would be greatly appreciated. It still works fine
on the plain 98 PCs, just those that have new versions or have had contact
with new versions. Possibly if someone could tell me of any files that may
have remained from MS Project 2000 when it was removed that may be helpful.

Thanks,

Dave.

Don't have 98 available to test I'm afraid, but try advising the powers that
be to upgrade 98 to Project 2003. It can open Project 2000 files, have them
edited and saved in 2000 then re-opened in 2003 and still not lose 2033
specific data. That way users with 2000 licenses can still use them and 98
users can upgrade to 2003.
