constant hour glass in Word 2007

[Disillusioned Office 2007 user]

Hi -

In Word 2007, the shape of the cursor keeps on flipping between the regular
pointer and the circular hourglass at a rapid pace. It does not matter
whether I have a new document open or an existing file.

Also, as an aside, PowerPoint 2007 keeps crashing on me.

Any suggestions / remedies?

Could be anything from a corrupt normal.dotm to a corrupt printer driver.
But because it is happening on PPt as well, my gut instinct is that you
either have a corrupt or incompatible printer driver or the locally
installed printer driver is missing completely.
