Constant "Installing" message when starting Office apps

Jeff Annely

I have installed Office 2003 (under XP). the suite works fine under one user
but when starting apps under another user a dialogue box appears sying
"Installing Office" and then goes to a gathering information box. This then
constantly cycles through these two boxes for about a dozen times and then
the app starts, but with errors. Outlook is the worst, with mapi32.dll errors
and "outlvba.dll not a valid addin-in" messages.

I have repaired the installation, removed and re-installed Office, but the
problem recurrs.

Any advice would be welcome

I'm having the same problem, to say it's annoying is an understatement. what
I was able to find out to some degree is there is some sort of change in MS
support of the 2000 product something they're calling "Extended Service",
basically it's time to upgrade. I hope that offers you some assistance. If
you want the detailed info you can do two things 1.When asked "Send report",
send it, follow the links for more information or go to the Knowledge base
site @microsoft.com and you will be able to find it there, it's sort of the
same format as it is here, scrolling until you find what you're looking for.
Good Luck ! Kimberly
