Constantly checking spelling/grammar

Keith

I have a large document in Word 2003 and there is a little icon in the
bottom status bar that has a pencil and book and the pencil is moving
and the pages are turning. I believe that it's checking grammar and
spelling and that is my my WINWORD processing is hogging all the CPU
and memory.

Tools... | Options... | Spelling & Grammar menu:
I have everything turned off:
Check spelling as you type: no
Check grammar as you type: no
Check grammar with spelling: no

Tools... | Options... | Save menu:
I have the "copy" and "save" options turned off.

Tools... | Options... | General menu:
I have the "background repagination" turned off.

That's all I can think of to turn off and regain my CPU/memory!

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Keith

Doubtful that it's spelling and grammar. Probably pagination. Try
troubleshooting your Word document:
1. Save as RTF, close, reopen and save as DOC again (careful you don't
overwrite your original, just in case).
2. Turn your show/hide button on and select all but the last paragraph;
copy, then paste into a brand new document.

Hope this helps!
