Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to constrain the custom property
values of one shape based on a value set in another shape?
An example of this :-
Shape1
Property1 -> Type "Fixed List" ; Format = A;B;C
Shape2 -> Type "Fixed List" ; Format = <reference to Shape1>.Format
In theory the drop down values in Shape2 will be identical to those in
Shape1
The reason for doing this is that I get users to create a process using
Visio template shapes, each shape will have a set of custom properties
behind it, which once the user completes their process I extract the
values and load them into a database. The problem I have is that the
users often need to type in values manually to some of the custom
properties and typos occur which then cause problems with my DB load.
I would like to create a few master shapes that contain all of the
values the users are likely to require and so when they add a
predefined template to their diagram the available values in the custom
properties will be constrained by the "Master" shape custom properties.
Any help offered would much appreciated
