Contact All Activites View

I have an Outlook 2007 user who is having a random problem with the contact
activities view. After opening a contact and switching to the activities
view, all the columns he defined, save the one in the middle, are pushed off
to either side of the window (i.e. has the following fields set to display:
icon, attachment, To:, subject, sent, received, in folder. When the contact
is opened, the icon, attachment, To: fields would be constrained to the left
5 of the window; the sent, received, in folder fields would be constrained to
the right 5%, with the subject field taking up the remaining 90% of the
window). If he adjusts the field size such that the view looks more
"normal", then closes the window, and then re-opens the contact, the view
defaults back to the constrained setup.

Has anyone ever seen this happen, or know a way to fix it?

Diane,

Thanks for the response. The user has told me that he tried both options,
however when he changes one contact and then closes and re-opens, or opens a
different contact, that the view goes back to the condensed configuration.

Is there a default setting somewhere that maybe is not being overwritten
with new information? If not, I'm thinking we may just un-install Office and
remove all settings, start over and see what happens.

Diane,

Thanks for the response. He's told me that performing either operation
works for that individual contact, but when he closes and reopens the
contact, or opens a different contact, that the view resets to the
constrained configuration.

Is there a default setting stored somewhere that this could be changed in?
If not, I'm thinking the next option is unloading Office and removing all the
configuration settings on his computer and starting over.

I don't know if /cleanviews switch will help... but the problem is with a
view, so if he doesn't have a lot of custom views to recreate, its worth
trying. I don't think reinstall will help - Detect & Repair (Office
diagnostics in outlook 2007) normally does everything uninstall does.

Joe,

Were you or the user able to fix this issue? It is occurring on bot
computers on which I use Outlook 2007 and it is driving m
*iNsAnE*, as I use the Activities view often.

I have tried all suggestions already given on this thread to no avail.

Thanks,
Michael

Michael,

No we haven't been able to come up with a solution for the problem. We're
going to try the reload option sometime in the next few weeks to see if we
can clear out all the Office settings - hopefully that will solve the
problem. Other than that, we're at a loss as to what the problem may be.

I've just tried the following and so far it works:

- Open a contact
- Click the "Activities" ribbon button in the "Show" section of the ribbon
- Select a view (all items, journals, notes, etc)
- For that view, right click and select "Customize current view"
- Click "Other Settings" button
- In the first section of the dialog box, uncheck "automatic column sizing"
- Click "OK" in "Other settings" dialog box
- Click "OK" in "Customize View" dialog box
- Repeat for each view where you want to stop automatic column formatting

This has worked for me so far.
