Contact groups collapsing when switching to inbox

This is probably a remarkably stupid question, but I
can't find a preference/options tab or FAQ answer to
this: we have a large database in outlook 2003 that I'm
constantly working in during the day...emails come in
constantly, and I hate leaving the preview pane on a
setting that holds the message for a long time. I'd
rather just go to the inbox and read messages all at
once. So...whenever I switch to email I lose my place in
the contacts section because it automatically collapses
all of my groups and I lose my place! Again, this is
probably a quick fix, but I can't find it. Thanks in
advance for your help.

Go to View | Arrange By | Current View | Customize Current View, click the
Group By button, and choose either "As last viewed" or "All expanded" in the
Expand/Collapse Defaults box at the bottom right.
